Well: the invitations are OUT.  Addressed (almost correctly), collated, stamped, and hand-cancelled (all per your direction).  This weekend, I organized my "invitation folder" and went through all the copies of the emails that we have traded since I fortunately found you over the web last June! Each email represented the time and care that has been so typical of your work.  From my early inquiries (wondering who you were -- was ordering something over the web something I was brave enough to do?), through the trials of choosing fonts and ink, through the ignorance of my not knowing the difference between an inside and outside envelope (which one was lined? which one should I order more of?), through the panic of realizing I had to choose the luncheon menu before finalizing my order, through the last-minute request for extra inside-envelopes -- you responded with characteristic promptness, courtesy, and wisdom.  Those invitations wouldn't have gone out (on time) if it weren't for you.  And they wouldn't have been as beautiful. I will never, ever forget the day the invitations arrived. It was a text-book, brilliant-blue skied, crisp-air day.  It was also September 11th.  The UPS truck arrived around 1pm.  I hadn't moved from the dark of the den and the bleakness of the television until the doorbell rang. The juxtaposition of world events with what was to be a celebratory event was something that will be with me forever.  Neither will I forget our communications during hedays that followed September 11.  They made the world seem smaller, more connected.  And I thank you for that, as well. Thank you for being such an important part of our putting our event together.  I hope that I will have the opportunity to work with you again in the future (if I am crazy enough to do something like this again).  And you can be sure that I will (as I already have) recommend you to about everyone else I know in the Boston-area.  And I know a lot of people!
